It is our belief in the teachings of God’s Word as stated in Deuteronomy 22:5, which asserts that “A woman shall not wear that which pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment; for all who do so are an abomination unto the Lord your God.”

Furthermore, 1 Timothy 2:10 advises that women should adorn themselves in modest attire, characterized by propriety and self-control, avoiding elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or extravagant clothing; rather, they should focus on good works, which are fitting for those who claim to worship God.

We hold the view that suitable attire is essential in creating a safe and productive educational atmosphere. The dress code at ACADEMERE has been established with this understanding in mind. In cases where students arrive at school not in compliance with the dress code, the classroom teacher or the student will undertake the following measures:

• Contact a parent or guardian to arrange for suitable attire.

• Borrow an item from the school, if available.

Remain in the office or a designated area until the issue is resolved. Any attire that is overly noticeable and attracts excessive attention is deemed inappropriate; when in doubt, it is advisable not to wear it.

PERMITTED ATTIRE:

Students are expected to maintain a neat and clean appearance to the best of their ability, and to dress modestly.

Shirts must be of any solid color (excluding lace or sheer materials) and feature either a collar or a crewneck (V-necks are not permitted). They should be of appropriate length and fit, ensuring that the midriff is covered and cleavage is not visible. Both long-sleeved and short-sleeved options are acceptable. Small logos from recognized brands (measuring 1 inch by 1 inch) are permitted. Turtlenecks are also allowed.

Students may wear any shirt or sweatshirt that is branded with Academere, with the exception of Academere coats.

Plain hoodies in solid colors (without graphics or text, unless they are associated with Academere) are permitted. However, the hood must not be worn at any time. On designated dress down Fridays, students may pay $1 to wear any hoodie, provided it is appropriate for school.

Collared shirts must be buttoned up to the collarbone, or a solid or Academere crewneck t-shirt must be worn underneath, reaching the collarbone.

Fleeces that consist of two or fewer colors must be paired with a solid color collared or crewneck shirt, or an Academere crewneck shirt underneath.

If a student chooses to remove their outer layer of clothing, the shirt underneath must still comply with the dress code.

Students are not permitted to be out of dress code while carrying a dress code-compliant shirt.

Girls are required to wear solid color skirts or skorts that reach the knee, without cargo pockets. Boys are required to wear solid color pants that reach the knee, without cargo pockets.

Blue jeans or jeans in any solid color are acceptable, provided they are modest, not distressed, sagging, or baggy, and free from holes, rips, or cut-outs.

Girls may opt for longer skirts or skorts that reach the knee or longer. Dresses, skirts, or skorts that are above the knee must be accompanied by leggings.

Leggings are only permissible when worn under a dress or skirt.

Girls may wear modest makeup, avoiding gothic styles and glitter.

Flip flops, slides, or open-toed shoes are not allowed, except on Fridays (refer to Flip Flop Friday).

The administration reserves the right to modify the dress code at their discretion if they believe that the learning environment is negatively affected.
