Academere Educator Code of Conduct
I. Introduction and Philosophy
At Academere, we believe that effective learning occurs within a safe, respectful, and orderly environment. Educators play a central role in shaping that environment through professionalism, consistency, and ethical behavior. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all educators and school staff in supporting student development, enforcing school rules, and maintaining a culture of dignity and high expectations.
Educators are expected to act in alignment with Academere’s philosophy: that students grow best when guided by responsible adults who foster accountability, maturity, and personal growth. Every educator must model the behavior we seek in students, support fair discipline practices, and uphold the mission of creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
II. Professional Responsibilities
Educators at Academere are expected to:

Promote a Safe and Orderly Environment

Maintain a classroom climate conducive to learning.

Enforce student discipline in accordance with the Academere Student Code of Conduct.

Respond promptly and appropriately to any safety concerns, harassment, or threats.

Model Ethical and Respectful Behavior

Treat all students, staff, and families with dignity and respect, regardless of background or identity.

Refrain from the use of offensive, abusive, or discriminatory language.

Avoid any behavior that could be perceived as harassment, bullying, or intimidation.

Support Student Growth

Provide equitable educational opportunities tailored to student needs and learning styles.

Use positive discipline techniques aimed at student development and accountability.

Document behavioral incidents and interventions accurately and in a timely manner.

Maintain Professional Integrity

Uphold honesty in all academic and administrative tasks.

Avoid conflicts of interest or situations that might compromise professional judgment.

Maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information.

III. Collaboration and Communication
Educators are expected to:

Engage with Families and Guardians

Proactively communicate concerns, achievements, and behavioral issues.

Include parents/guardians in the problem-solving and disciplinary process, as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Encourage parental involvement as a vital part of student success.

Work Cooperatively with Staff

Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support services to address student needs.

Report serious infractions or safety concerns to appropriate school authorities.

Follow school protocols for student removal, referral, and documentation.

IV. Commitment to Inclusion and Equity
Academere adheres to a nondiscrimination policy aligned with federal and state law. Educators are required to:

Ensure that all students feel welcome and supported, regardless of race, religion, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.

Foster an environment where diverse perspectives are respected and represented.

Report incidents of discrimination, bias, or inequity immediately to school leadership.
V. Discipline and Student Behavior
Educators shall:

Implement classroom management techniques that align with Academere’s School Discipline Policy.

Apply consequences fairly and consistently, considering frequency, severity, and student responsiveness.

Use removal from class only in accordance with established policy and always ensure due process.

Follow all procedures related to referrals, in-school suspensions, and parent/guardian contact.
VI. Technology and Student Privacy
Educators must:

Model appropriate and ethical use of technology.

Never use technology to exploit, embarrass, or violate the privacy of students.

Monitor student use of technology and intervene if misuse occurs.

Respect student data and uphold FERPA and school confidentiality standards.
VII. Accountability and Compliance
Educators are expected to:

Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as school board policies.

Participate in annual reviews and professional development related to school discipline and student behavior.

Cooperate with investigations related to student incidents or staff conduct.

Understand that violation of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
VIII. Affirmation
Each educator must sign an annual acknowledgment of this Code of Conduct as a condition of employment and continued service at Academere.
